Iceland in Winter: Our First Van Life Adventure (Part 1) - Video

Welcome to our first day of van life in Iceland during the freezing winter! After a cancelled flight due to bad weather, we finally landed in a surprisingly sunny Reykjavik. With oversized luggage that barely fit in our cozy camper van (thanks, Go Campers!), we stocked up on blankets to survive the icy nights and kicked off this unforgettable adventure.

Icelandic winters are no joke, so our first stop was the famous Blue Lagoon, where the hot springs warmed us right up. Drying wet swimsuits in the van? Rookie mistake—we learned the hard way when they froze outside!

Fueled by a quick lunch of canned tomato soup, we hit the road to explore Iceland's Golden Circle. Starting at Þingvellir National Park where we spotted our first waterfall.
The second water stream we saw was Brúarfoss, renowned as the bluest waterfall in Iceland.
After that we visited Laugarvatn Fontana and had delicious bread baked underground, how’s that for an experience?
Our day ended with a magical encounter, we got to experience the power of the Geysir!

Camping in Iceland isn’t easy, especially when most campsites close in winter. Luckily, we found one with a hot tub! (Pro tip: Wild camping isn’t allowed, so plan ahead!) After a hot meal in our tiny home on wheels, we braved a chilly night and woke up to visit the breathtaking Gullfoss Waterfall, the most awe-inspiring sight of the day.
