Olga: "We wanted to create a location, which is melting in nature. When we were building, we were looking different solutions how to make houses, not breaking the nature, melting and becoming invisible. Our first idea was to make wooden log houses, and we did the first version of prototype, and we saw that it's not melting enough. So, we decided that we have to really melt them in and increase the amount of trees by reflection, not decreasing them by cutting around."

"Yeah, actually, we just fell in love with this area, the rocks, the nature of the trees. We just want to keep it that way. So, this was the base inspiration."

"The idea was to build a very Instagrammable venue for TikTokers and Instagrammers, they can create the content, this is a large group of our guests. But anyway, our main guests are nature lovers, those who want to stay in nature, but still not far from civilization, so they can have all the services and facilities and also not ready to give up on the luxury."

STORYLINE:
In Finland’s frozen far north, close to the edge of the Arctic Circle, sits one of the latest additions to Rovaniemi’s hotels.

Although… you might struggle to see it.

Opened in November 2023 and about a 10-minute drive from Rovaniemi city centre, the Invisible Forest Lodge is home to 13 boutique suite cabins, each covered with reflective surfaces, meaning they seemingly “melt” into the surrounding forest.

"We wanted to create a location, which is melting in the nature,” explains co-owner Olga Robacha, who, together with her husband Alon, also run an icebreaker cruise experience off Finland’s west coast.

“When we were building, we were looking for different solutions how to make houses, not breaking the nature, melting and becoming invisible.”

“We just fell in love with this area, the rocks, the nature of the trees. We just want to keep it that way. So, this was the base inspiration,” adds Alon.

Each 40-square-metre “Invisible Suite” features floor-to-ceiling windows offering forest views. There’s also a sauna, walk-in shower, and a private terrace with a hot tub for evening Northern Lights scouting.

Altogether, it’s a pretty Instagrammable experience, which is why Olga says content creators are a “large part” of their guests.

"The idea was to build a very Instagrammable venue for TikTokers and Instagrammers, they can create the content, this is a large group of our guests,” she says.

“Our main guests are nature lovers, those who want to stay in nature, but still not far from civilization, so they can have all the services and facilities and also not ready to give up on the luxury."

And, since opening in November last year, it’s proved popular among guests.
